Annual plants die after the first frost. They complete their life cycle in one growing season. They grow very quickly and can be seen in the first season. Perennials return year after year, but take longer to establish.

That depends on your vision of a plot. Wildflower plots are a single season growing, and can be reseeded the following year, or converted back to lawn. Pollinator plots and prairie plots full of perennials will need some maintenance the first couple of years, such as mowing, and spraying any weeds, but once established are very easy to maintain. Perfect Prairies will come up with a maintenance plan for each site.
